Security Guard Card Training Program
The State of Connecticut has approved Hartford Public Library's Security Officer Training Program, commonly known as the "Guard Card" class. The successful completion of this one-day program will qualify candidates to apply for a Security Officer ID card issued by the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection. (C.G.S. Sec 29-161q)

NOTE: Currently, due to the Main Library's closure, payments and registration can be dropped off at the Albany branch location information here. *Cancellations three business days prior to class will be refunded $75.00 (*$25.00 of the $100.00 fee is nonrefundable) *No refunds for individuals who do not cancel three business days prior to the scheduled class, or attend class but leave early.

If the license is expired for more than 30 days, you are treated as a brand new student. You will have to retake the class and pay all the fees like a new student.
After completing the course, applicants will be responsible for the following:
--> Filling out the application (DPS135C)
--> Copy of current driver’s license
--> 1 passport style photo
--> Obtaining fingerprints
--> Complete naturalization paperwork (if applicable)
